How It Works
A standard drink in the US contains 14 grams of pure alcohol. To calculate how many standard drinks are in any beverage: Standard Drinks = (Volume in oz ร ABV% ร 0.01 ร 29.5735 ร 0.789) / 14. Where 29.5735 converts oz to mL, and 0.789 is the density of ethanol in g/mL. For example, a 16 oz craft IPA at 7.5% ABV = 1.8 standard drinks.
